Travel and Vacation Guide for You and Your Family

While shopping for a new camping tent, look for special features that will let you enjoy the use of that camping tent for many years to come. Identify your budget and make a decision ahead of time how much you can manage to pay for to spend. I am not essentially advocating that you buy the most luxurious tent available in your price range, but it will assist you to know what your choices are. Once you know how much you can spend it’s time to examine the features of the camping tents in that price range.

Let’s begin to see the most important feature of a camping tent:

A tent with aluminum poles : Camping tents may come with fiberglass poles, but they are easily broken and more likely to smash. If you crook or break a pole, most of the camping stores trade replacements or repair kits.

A tent with an adequate rain fly : The rainfly is just like your tent’s umbrella. The bigger one is much better. Look for a fly that comes very down the sides of the tent rather than just crossways the top. Rain flies are always waterproof. Tent walls are water-repellant.

A tent with folded seams and double stitching : If you can drag the material on either side of a ridge and see through the stitches, this tent would leak. Be aware to use seam sealer on all ridges.

A tent with a one piece tub floor : The floor should be made of waterproof material, and it should come a few inches up the sides before it is sown to the tent walls. No seam in the floor means there is no place for water to seep in.

A tent with adequate guy lines : Tent walls, and sometimes rain flies, have loops sown near the middle. These loops are used to attach guy lines that pull out the walls so that they are taught. It’s impossible to sleep in a tent that’s flapping in the wind.

A tent with heavy-duty zippers : You’ll be in and out of your tent a lot so you want zippers that will hold up to frequent use.

When backpacking, one of the most important items you can take with you is a tent. You will want a tent that you can set up camp quickly and easily and offers good protection allowing a good nights sleep, so you can start fresh again the next day. You will also want it to be light in weight if you intend backpacking. Choosing the correct tent is very important when backpacking. To help to choose which tent is best for you then the following describes the many types that are currently available on the market today and the ones most suitable for backpacking.

Tunnel tent These tents are superb for carrying as they are so lightweight therefore great for long backpacking expeditions. However, they don’t have much height and have two poles in their construction. They need stakes to keep the tent secure.

Dome tent The dome tent is excellent for headroom and internal space. It is a breeze to set up as it only uses two poles. However, with only two poles there isn’t a lot of support so it’s not so good if you are expecting bad or unpredictable weather conditions.

Supported dome tent This is very similar to a dome tent but offers more support. It is ideally suited to worse weather conditions and offers the same benefits as a regular dome tent.

Freestanding tent The freestanding tent is quite easy to set up as well as being pretty sturdy. They are very lightweight in design making them a great backpacking favorite. This tent should always be staked down so it doesn’t blow away.

Teepee tent As this tent has one tall pole in the middle it is great for headroom. The tent is draped over the pole and staked down to secure it. They usually don’t have a floor but still offers great protection from the weather.

Single wall constructed tent The single wall tent does not have a fly but is very easy to erect as they do not need extra ropes or stakes. Again, a lightweight tent so ideal for backpacking. Be sure to provide ventilation as they get condensation easily.

Double wall constructed tent Very similar to the single wall tent except they have an outer layer or fly so are well ventilated and don’t suffer as bad from condensation. They are also very easy to set up too.

Most short break holidays or weekends have been single city breaks. Europe’s capital cities are favorite’s destinations, with London, Amsterdam and Prague being the favorites. I wanted to talk about multiple city breaks because that’s a more challenging form of short break holiday to organize and make arrangements for. For multiple city breaks Europe has the advantage over larger continents in that there are plenty of wonderful cities not too far apart from each other. So you could fly in and out to Rome, for example and still visit Florence, Copenhagen and Bruges within a reasonable time frame – say less than one week for the complete city break.

The distance between cities in Europe is really not so great as often imagined due to the language and culture changes when passing from one to another. Europe also has lots of little countries around the Balkans and central European area, such as Croatia, Serbia, Czech and Slovenia all of which have fascinating historical capitals, handy for multiple city breaks in Europe, all being not very far away from each other.

Amsterdam

There are various things you can do in Amsterdam to fully appreciate the culture and history of the city. Amsterdam is consistently voted as one of the prettiest cities in Europe combine that with its’ rich history makes for a perfect city break. Amsterdam is famed for the small coffee shops and bars that you can visit. These are the places where you will be able to be exposed to the most culture while you are in Amsterdam.

A Charming Cotswolds Holiday Destination

Take a look at the Cotswolds in the UK and you find quaint village scenes and old world charm – the perfect vacation destination. Traditional holiday options surround you with a backdrop of spectacular countryside and wildlife in abundance. We have always been loyal to taking holidays in the UK, with the Cotswolds being a firm favourite. We choose to stay in traditional Cotswolds cottage rental accommodation, and in truth, have never been disappointed with what we’ve found. Last year we joined our daughter and her family in a modern-designed lodge, with stunning lakeside views. As our own taste is fairly traditional, it’s not a place we would usually consider – however it’s good to see the Cotswolds is changing to meet the needs of future markets, and we were very pleasantly surprised.

Nature and Wildlife in Abundance

Our luxury lodge was ideal for the family unit, with lots of space for our grandchildren to play and the adults to enjoy the views. Situated just by the Lower Mill Estate, which is teeming with a wide range of wildlife such as butterflies, wild orchids, badgers, beavers, otters, deer; kingfishers, nightingales, egrets and owls, there was much to see and do. Short walks to explore through woodlands and meadows, and secret tracks to discover beside streams and lakes, the whole trip seemed like a mini-adventure for the younger ones.

Outstanding Facilities in The Cotswolds

There’s a spa area and a slate-lined pool to take a dip in – and a convenient little farm shop where you can get those last minute essentials. So, when it comes to the practical things, you can pick up locally sourced seasonal produce and if you arrive late at night or haven’t the time to do the shopping, arrangements can be made for a box of fresh local vegetables and meat to be delivered to your door. Brilliant facilities. Especially for meeting the needs of the younger professional couple or larger family unit that’s looking for more space than an old Cottage would allow. Pretty as they are, quaint pubs are not what we consider a ‘family’ friendly option for our grandchildren.

You might have heard of vacation rentals as the freshest sorts of travel accommodations to hit the travel industry. Ever since properties in the real estate market became tremendously affordable, future retirees and investors are dipping their feet in the vast pool of second homes or rental homes. This increase in the popularity of investment homes has propelled holiday homes in a new level of recognition. But before you lose yourself in the hype, better learn the benefits as well as the disadvantages of these holiday rentals.

Advantages

These properties are essentially homes themselves

Unlike hotels and other kinds of travel accommodations, vacation rentals are essentially homes themselves. If you choose to rent these holiday homes for your trip, you can expect to see the same amenities you’d normally see in conventional homes. These are, in essence, your home away from home. This makes it easy for travelers to adjust and not feel out of place in their travel destination.

At times, fractional shares, also known as fractionals, are confused with other vacation property options like time shares and condominium hotels. Similarities exist, but there are a lot of things that make fractional shares a unique aspect. Fractionals, also called as private residence clubs, are similar to condominium hotels in that they can be used as a source of rental income when the owners are not using the property. Not only that, fractionals is, in many people’s view, a second home purchase with perks including interest and equity benefits that come with ownership.

Unlike a condominium hotel, fractionals are luxurious private properties located in the most sought after areas. They are available in studio and one-bedroom units, but most of them are spacious and have several bedrooms and family rooms. Pools, decks, outdoor recreation areas and a lot of other features make them come under the category of exclusive properties. A fractional property might be out of the budget of a majority of people, but since the ownership of the house is divided among a small group of individuals, an upscale lifestyle becomes a matter that can well be afforded.

Generally, fractionals are divided into 4 or more shares. It is not necessary you should maintain contact with the other owners, but many people develop friendships in course of time. How close you want to be with them is totally up to you only. Sometimes the owners will be able to use the property only for a maximum of a couple of months during the year and might feel that it is not a prudent investment. In fact, fractionals allow owners to decide how frequently they will be visiting the property, with packages ranging from a couple of weeks to three months. When you are the owner of a fractional, you have the freedom to rent it out yourself or to offer it to your friends or relatives. In the case of you deciding to sell your part of the ownership, you have full freedom to do so. You can also bequeath it to your children. Since there are fewer fractionals available when compared to timeshares, their value is likely to witness an increase, making them a safer better bet for banks for purposes like financing. No wonder, fractionals is the fastest growing sector in the timeshare industry. It is growing more than three times faster than the timeshare industry itself.

In the late 1960’s, the concept called timesharing gained popularity with holiday lovers around the world. The various resorts would offer flexible modes of ownership and stay. In timesharing, people are given the chance to change the duration of their ownership and are able to select a suitable time. Some resorts allow people to swap properties with others within the same hotel group, or with resorts belonging to other groups. Somewhat similar on the lines of this is a novel concept called vacation swapping. This comes in the newest and latest list of cheap travel and vacation.

It works like this- a family wants to tour your place or the town nearby and want a place to stay. Similarly you want to have a tour of the place where these people live. It is simple; your family will use their house where you want to go. Let it be a far-off town or even a different country, and the other family will come to stay in your house. They will be staying at your house and will be sharing your property for a brief period of time. In this arrangement, you need to take some precautions and you will do well to have all your valuables and other important personal assets to be placed safely elsewhere. It is assumed that they would surely exercise caution not to intentionally damage anything in your house; and conversely also. But mistakes can occur, so come to an agreement regarding this matter prior to you leaving for the trip.

Then decide on the different aspects like who would pay for the utilities and provisions while making the stay. The usual practice is to buy one’s own food and make use of the utensils in the house in this regard. When one leaves, the house will be left without any need for further cleaning. You may also allow the opposite party to use your vehicle. This is an additional saving on the money one needs to pay as vehicle rental while going out to different places of interest. But both the parties pay for their fuel and will return the vehicle in good condition after use. This way, both families will get to enjoy a free vacation stay and will have transportation facility availed of for free. If you have got entry passes to local events and happenings, those may be gifted for use by your counterparts, and the bonding between the two parties will get strong. This again will add more value to your cheap travel vacation plan.
